Here’s some more information regarding workers’ compensation and the type of injuries that qualify.
The Office of Workers’ Compensation Programs (OWCP)
The OWCP is in charge of four main disability compensation programs that aim to provide federal workers or their dependents who either get injured while on the job or acquire an occupational disease. The four groups include wage-replacement benefits, medical treatment, vocational rehabilitation and other benefits. There are also other specific groups that are covered by other programs including the Black Lung Benefits Program, the Federal Employees’ Compensation Program and the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Program.
Types of Injuries Covered
Imagine being at work when you drop a heavy object on your foot or you cut a finger on a machine. Injuries on the job may also be developed over a period of time instead of suddenly. For example, if you are constantly lifting heavy objects, you may develop neck or back soreness and/or injuries. Injuries don’t have to be solely physical; you may also be entitled to workers’ compensation if your job is particularly stressful, anxiety-filled or if you interact with a manager that harasses you.
